Description
Ready to discover the rhythms and movements of Tahitian dance? This 6-week course will guide you through learning the fundamental technique of ‘Ori Tahiti, exploring the two core components of this beautiful Polynesian tradition.
Over six weeks, we will study the basic steps, posture, and coordination that form the foundation of ‘Ori Tahiti. Our practice will focus on elements from both Ote’a (the dynamic, percussive dance) and Aparima (the fluid, storytelling dance focused on the grace and meaning of hand gestures). Through short, gradual sequences, you will learn to coordinate your body movements with both the powerful drumbeats and the melodies of Tahitian music, building a solid and balanced foundation.
The course is designed for absolute beginners or anyone wishing to revisit the basics to improve their precision, rhythm, and body awareness.
